STEM Salem to Launch September 20, Bringing Hands-On STEM Opportunities to the Salem Community

Launch date set for STEM Salem pilot program bringing hands-on STEM experiences to families in the City of Salem.
STEM Salem will officially launch on September 20 with a community celebration designed to introduce families to a new initiative focused on expanding access to engaging, high-quality STEM learning experiences for children and families in the Salem area.
The launch event will showcase STEM Salem’s vision for creating opportunities for students to explore science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) through fun, interactive, and hands-on activities. The program is designed to make STEM accessible and exciting while helping young people see themselves as capable participants in the STEM fields.
STEM Salem’s launch is made possible with support from PSEG, whose contributions are helping STEM Salem build a stronger foundation for STEM education and community engagement.
“The mission of STEM Salem is to bridge the gap in access to high-quality STEM learning,” said Antoinette Stanley, STEM Salem Program Manager and Elder at Harvest-Time Worship Center. “We aim to do this by creating an inclusive program structure, collaborating with local STEM organizations, and facilitating hands-on learning experiences.”
Antoinette added, “We use fun activities as a platform to spur curiosity, spark imagination, and plant a seed of hope in the possibilities of a future in STEM for both children and their families.”
STEM Salem is being developed as a community-centered initiative serving K–12 students, educators, parents, STEM professionals, and community partners. Through partnerships and experiential learning, the program seeks to expose young people to STEM concepts in ways that are relevant, accessible, and inspiring.
The September 20 launch represents the beginning of STEM Salem’s broader effort to cultivate curiosity and strengthen the pipeline of young people who are prepared to pursue STEM education, careers, and opportunities.
